Waskapitan : “let’s come closer together”
We are pleased to partner up with the show Waskapitan, an event that advocates for respect, kindness and dialogue. The tragic death of Joyce Echaquan this past September in Joliette shook all of Quebec. Headed by the Lanaudière Native Friendship Centre, several organizations in the region have collaborated to create this show that is unifying, inclusive … and free!
Waskapitan, which means “let’s come closer together” in Atikamekw, will bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous Quebec performers, from Natasha Kanapé Fontaine to Ariane Moffatt, and including Boucar Diouf. Under the artistic direction of Elisapie Isaac, their aim is to raise public awareness of the importance of dialogue between peoples and of the fight against racism.
Online free of charge, beginning December 3 at 7 p.m. :
Before, during or after the concert, everyone is invited to donate generously!
This project is made possible thanks to the Lanaudière Native Friendship Centre , the Quebec Association of Native Friendship Centres , the Desjardins Cultural Centre Centre , the Festival de Lanaudière and the Musée d’art de Joliette
